The God of Thunder is vegan, says celebrity trainer Luke Zocchi, who helped actor Chris Hemsworth get into shape for the filming of Thor: Ragnarok.
Chris Hemsworth maintained a high-protein diet on the set of Thor, with the actor eating plant-based foods every two to three hours, his trainer revealed.
“That was a big experiment”, Mr Zocchi told Nine Entertainment this week. “We tried to see if he could keep the muscle being vegan and it actually surprised me as well”.
“We’re all in this mentality of ‘gotta eat animal protein, protein, protein’ but you can get a lot of protein from beans”, Mr Zocchi added.
According to on-set sources, Mr Hemsworth’s favourite vegan foods were bean and veggie burgers, with the actor snacking on plant-based ingredients six times per day.
Younger brother Liam Hemsworth is also a well-known vegan, who has previously encouraged his family to adopt a plant-based diet.
“Chris is obviously extremely healthy and has played Thor and has had to work out a lot of the past few years”, Liam Hemsworth told Men’s Fitness.
“Through talking to me, he’s somewhat adapting, I think, to eating more vegetables and more plant-based stuff”.
Last year, PETA crowned Liam Hemsworth as one of Australia’s sexiest vegan, with the actor saying plant-based living has been “nothing but positive, mentally and physically”.
“Having grown up with a love for and connection to all animals, and having been educated on the health benefits of a plant-based diet, it only made sense for me to go vegan”, the star of Independence Day: Resurgence said.
