Zac Efron announces he’s going vegan

Zac Efron says that he's eating purely vegan

Zac Efron has announced that he’s ‘going vegan’, with the 30-year-old actor joining a growing list of plant-based celebrities.

“I’ve been experimenting with eating purely vegan”, The Greatest Showman star told Teen Vogue this week, adding that he’s been making several recent lifestyle changes.

“That’s completely changed the way that my body works, and the way that I metabolise food, the way it turns into energy, the way that I sleep”.

“It’s been brilliant”, Efron revealed, “It’s been great for my exercise, and great for my routine”.

Efron also described his passion for the great outdoors, saying: “I love hiking, backpacking, or any sort of nature”.

“In Hawaii, I got to dive with tiger sharks… I kind of made a friend out there, in a tiger shark”, the actor recounted.

“And I survived to tell about it, so that was pretty cool”.

Zac Efron is also a self-confessed foodie, who said that his perfect day out would involve sampling local music and cuisine.

“I would love to just explore. I’m a huge foodie, so I could definitely visit the top restaurants and be jazzed”.

Australia’s plant-based community have welcomed Efron’s announcement, with fans taking to social media to express their delight:

Ok he just got even hotter… If that’s possible!

Go him, each one that becomes vegan and is famous gets many others to follow.

I do think popular people going vegan is great for the cause. As much as we may not like it, people look up to actors, musicians etc… and seeing them make a positive change in their lives may help others follow.
